Citizens have been swayed during your bad times to letting some have Carte Blanche to wrench the revenge that so mattered to the damaged pride of the City on the Hill. The need for diversification continues to be important. The melting pot that was America and from which stance America emerged and flourished STILL EXISTS. It was Italian and German and Swedish voices in the old days and in the days of ‘Shane’ and ‘West Side Story’ Now there are more Hispanic voices having a big influence but America will remain great. Building walls did not work in Europe and will not work here. The disparity between you and your neighbors will weigh against you. Nations co exist happily in Europe because sharing has ensured that all neighbors are equal. There has to be a sharing of wealth with ones neighbors to prevent a huge revolutionary tide of hatred and envy building up. Obese America and starving Mexico is a recipe for harm and danger. Give up on your Humvees and your Lear Jets America and you will prosper just as well. South America needs your leadership not your scorn. Not your Greed. Not your Isolation. It is not too late to Equalize and return to concern and talks.
I do not believe that all would have been so compliant in Warring decisions but for 9/11 and for the inability for anyone in Government to stand against retribution and ‘attack mode’. The Right Wing Radio Jocks continually blame the present would be leaders for being compliant when the atmosphere was almost treasonable not to give the White House compete Carte Blanch to do their worst in retaliation. For not ONE moment has it been acceptable to even suggest that America analyze its biased policies in dealing with Arab minnow nations and to see where Muslim Peoples might have been affected. Whereas there were a few radicals who were willing to die for their ‘cause’ in the Middle East we now have a plague affecting erstwhile happy Muslims in peaceful lives in European Nations and indeed Worldwide. All that has happened by grounding down the Nation of Iraq is that even more Muslims are now enraged at our well-reported missteps in Policing the aftermath of our invasion. As stated recently in Britain. There will be a Generation of unrest over their ‘standing tall’ with America. The leadership now wants to reward the Brits by denying them access to their brother nation. What’s up with that America? The nations that kept out of the melee will benefit by their keeping neutral and this wonderful leadership makes yet another reason for the average Brit to wonder at the Value System here? “We are entitled to keep our nation safe,” says Chertoff, which interprets, on the average English Street as “You were useful in getting us our way over going to War but you are also dispensable to ‘throwaway America’.
America deserves better leadership and a leader who embraces the rest of the World and that has NOT being happening during my six years of residence here. Isolation is NOT the American way and being pathetic over the way some peoples reacted over 9/11 is not mature. America IS a World Leader and CAN return to full grace and must earn it and not be like the Playground Bully demanding it. As the Words of Moses in a recent re watching of “The Ten Commandments” ‘man cannot live by bread alone’. Having the most bread is sending America on a decline. My country is also great and just as free and is much less obese and has far fewer homes with pools and humvees and boats that take a grand to fill up with fuel and fewer Lear Jets and kids with cars and perfect teeth but not skin. We in Britain do NOT idolize the celebrity like America but I am here because I have loved and trusted American values despite the ‘shoot from the hip’ renegade and the ‘throwaway’ mentality. I have not acquiesced but fight for America’s recovery.
America is kept ‘nose to the grindstone’ whereas in Europe there is more time to reflect ones attitudes. Here the government is allowed to dictate and one hopes for the best instead of demanding the best. Here it is treasonable, or has been, to examine policies whereas Parliament is a ‘chicken coop’ of arguments to progress. Long term America must fight to have more time to consider the ‘other side’ and not just work for personal gain. Being ‘rich’ in character must be the order of the day and NOT just the paper qualifications that are so essential here. ‘Prophet not profit’ was a name given to me in Peterborough as I worked as a driving instructor for 25 years and saw my students rise from humble homes to mansions. Saw a guy who had to wear out his shoes to stop on his bicycle with no brakes to be on time for his lessons become a Community Leader ten years later. In all that time I lived in the same home and served the same community and eventually taught the children of the former students and was happy with my lot. I was a pillar of my community sitting in the Town Hall making Road Safety decisions (unpaid) and had a newspaper column on Road Safety (unpaid) and was just happy until my fathers early death and a feeling of wanting to see a bit more of the world took over. So I am here and awaiting the full recovery of a potentially great nation to once more be considered, the nation to look to for guidance, that America WAS?
