BOYERTOWN, PA -
Situations became tense at the Boyertown Area High School after
the threat of a bomb in the building was called to the Berks
County 911 service. During ninth period, at approximately
2:40 PM, five minutes away from normal school dismissal,
teachers were informed of the emergency and told to refer to
their informational packets supplied by the administration that
contain the codes of conduct for such emergencies. At 2:45
PM, students and faculty were told over the announcement system
to gather their items and evacuate the building as soon as
possible.
Police and
emergency crews were called in to search the building for
safety. At approximately 3:15 PM, an announcement was made
that all students and faculty could safely return to the
building, although all after school activities were cancelled.
This has been
the second bomb threat at the high school during the 2006-2007
school year, and one of several within the past few years.
