Chill with Santa and the BBB at the Third Annual Chillin’ on Main with Santa Festival

Santa’s coming! Santa’s coming! Santa’s arrival to Boyertown is planned for Saturday, December 8, 2007 at 11:00 am on sleigh provided by the Boyertown Museum of Historic Vehicles. Santa will be accompanied by members of the Boyertown Jr. High and Alumni bands. The Chillin’ on Main with Santa Festival will take place from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Santa will make his way to an ice throne carved by Sculpted Ice Works (www.sculptediceworks.com), located in the community walkway next to CASABLANCO and across from the Boyertown Community Library. Santa’s arrival is just one of the numerous events planned for the day on Main Street by Building a Better Boyertown’s Promotion committee.

Children can have their photo taken with Santa. And, while waiting in line for photos with Santa, children of all ages will be entertained by a few of Santa’s friends while enjoying cookies provided by Schaeffer’s Family Restaurant, Dice’s Creative Cakes, Weis Markets and Wal-mart of Bechtelsville.

Mark Routhamel of Sculpted Ice Works will be transforming blocks of ice into beautiful carvings along Main Street throughout the day starting at 11:30 am. New this year, Rick Petschelt will be demonstrating wood carving.

Odd Fellows Hall with be bustling with excitement and entertaining performances again this year. Starting off the day, at noon, Mock Turtle Marionette Theater (www.mockturtle.org) will be performing a puppet show followed by a puppet-making workshop. Cherry Herring Entertainment Company (www.cherry-herring.com) will provide entertainment throughout the day including interactive games, dancing and a Christmas show.

Another new addition to this year’s Chillin’ is an interactive play presented by Limelight Productions titled “Santa and the Wicked Wazoo.” The Boyertown Community Ballet Company will have an encore performance after the play. There will be two performances on Saturday, 2:00 and 4:00 pm and a 2:00 pm performance on Sunday. The show is free, but tickets must be presented to see the show. Tickets are available at Bause’s Super Drugstore, Miracles in Motion Dance Studio and the Building a Better Boyertown office.

A window storefront decorating contest gives businesses a perfect opportunity to bring the holidays to Boyertown. Stop by all the businesses to see their windows and come back to the Odd Fellows Hall to vote for your favorite!

Sound Proposition will be filling the air on Main Street with holiday music. Stop by The State Theater to watch bands perform at this year’s Winter Wonderband Festival from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.

All events are located on the Main Street and brought to you by Building a Better Boyertown and generous sponsorships by Boyertown Junior High West students, Blackwell Mechanical Contracting, Inc., Bill and Linda Flederbach, National Penn Bank and Everything Postal.
