Please help us celebrate the first anniversary of our Arts and Activities Alliance, a committee of Building a Better Boyertown.

We’ve had a much busier year than we’d initially planned! We’ve staged a dozen separate art exhibits/sales, field trips, art classes and healthful living experiences. In addition, our artists have gathered together regularly at one another’s home or studio to “yak and chat.” We’ve initiated a student YEA! Team for our community’s young, enthusiastic artists. We’re pleased that over two dozen of our local artists have participated regularly and that the community continues to support their work.

We’ve created stronger ties with artists and similar art guilds in surrounding communities and counties and provided our artists a greater awareness of assorted opportunities to market and promote their work, classes, and skills.

We owe much of our success to the leadership and writers connected with our local media--especially WPAZ radio, WZAR TV and Z96 Radio, the Boyertown Times and and Community Connections who have done much to promote the efforts and opportunities afforded by our artists.

We are always grateful to Building a Better Boyertown—the Board and staff—and our local businesses and individuals who participate with us and support our efforts.

We will continue some of the initiatives for a second year, delete those that were not as successful, and continue to create new opportunities to fulfill our mission of promoting local visual and literary art and artists and providing opportunities for the community to participate in activities to enhance creativity and healthful living.

For example, we're currently encouraging artists to create work to enter a "Scenes of Boyertown" contest to be held during a major art show planned for November 2009. This summer additional art lessons for children and for adults--some indoor and some plein air--are offered by contacting the artists hosting them. (Visit www.boyertownpa.org for further information or call 610-369-3054 to direct your inquiries.)

Our vision for the future includes a “home” for our artists where art classes can be scheduled, exhibits staged, and gatherings held. Someday, somewhere…our dream will come, and we’ll celebrate some more!
